Gathering Part 2

Gathering of Guilds part 2
Terry shared several items.  I tote she made from fabric in her stash and a neat project that started with a long zipper and zipped up into a coin purse.

Believe it or not this is the back of a quilt!
And this is the beautiful top!
Charlene also shared with us.
Bonnie showed us Wayne Kollinger's article and then her version of his pattern.

Marg has been busy finishing quilts.  She may not have as much time now as she had two additions to her grandchildren on March 28th.  This must have been a great day for babies to be born as Joanne welcomed a new grandbaby also.

Colleen from Estevan shared some beatiful pieces with us.  She combined applique with hand embroidery on several.

Chris from Torquay showed us a quilt that she had embroidered on her machine.

Vera shared several pieces - sorry I did not get pictures of them all as she was too speedy for me!

Barb completed her UFO's today.

Jaynie had more art quilts. Beautiful as we expected.

Loretta has been busy with the Stoughton Guild.

Eileen shared a quilt block made from tiny scraps sewn to nespaper that her mother or grandmother had started many years ago.

The ladies from Estevan showed us a quilt made by one of the Korean ladies that comes to their group.

Gathering of the Guilds

In April in our non Quilt Show years we like to invite other local guilds to come and join us for a meeting.  This year we had invited Flo Blair our Saskatchewan CQA rep to join us as well.  Unfortunately Flo was ill and unable to attend.
Luckily everyone was ready to share their wonderful work and we had a great evening.

Christa and Tracy started by sharing the banner the Torquay group made for the Glendive Quilt show which is the last weekend in April.

Christa then showed us two of the quilts she has completed as part of the "Scrap Squad" for Quiltmaker magazine.

Vi completed another quilt from her UFO list.  Another one that is beautifully hand quilted.  I definitely think there should be extra points for hand quilting.  Did I mention Vi is in my group for the challenge?

Joanne with her Quilt as you go table runner.
Ethel with a quilt she made from a magazine pattern.

Sharynne will become a quilter yet!
 To be continued...

Well although Brenda is our regular blogger she is away this week.  I am going to attempt this - please be patient as I have no experience with this and I am not an English teacher.

I will start by sharing a few of our pictures from Cuba.  We relaxed a little, tried to stay hydrated, swam and toured around.
We also tried to incorporate some of Colleen's colour theory into our trip!
We rode the open topped double decker bus into Varadaro.

We stopped for a beverage at Al Capone' house.

We also had a private taxi with local guide into Havanna.  I would recommend this as we got much insight into the Cuban history and culture from our guide Ida.  We also rode in a beautiful old Buick.

They h
ad small catamarans at our resort so Bonnie and I had to try them out.
Check out the different colours in our drinks!

Well that is enough of holiday pictures.  This was just a practise run for the real thing, our April Quilt Guild meeting.
